Steele Group names Marshall Moten — Special Forces veteran — as Chief Operating Officer

Moten will lead operations, strategy, and expansion across Steele Group, Anchor Advisors, and BASE-X beginning July 2026

BOSTON, MA, April 15, 2026 — Steele Group, the integrated commercial real estate and infrastructure firm serving the country's most demanding defense, deep tech, and industrial organizations, today announced the appointment of Marshall Moten as Chief Operating Officer. Moten will lead operations, strategy, and expansion across the firm's three platforms — Steele Group, Anchor Advisors, and BASE-X — beginning July 1, 2026, following completion of his dual graduate degree at MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard Kennedy School.

A leader forged in contested environments

Moten joins Steele Group after more than 11 years of military service as an Infantry and Special Forces Officer. He led a 12-person Green Beret detachment and more than 100 partner forces across counterterrorism operations in Iraq and Syria, building the operational judgment that only contested environments can produce. At MIT Sloan and the Harvard Kennedy School, he is completing a dual MBA/MPA focused on business strategy and national security policy.

A multi-year evaluation, not a hire of convenience

Steele Group Founder & CEO Steele Divitto and Moten first connected through 51 Vets and the Green Beret Foundation — two organizations dedicated to supporting Special Operations Forces veterans transitioning from active service. Moten subsequently worked with the Steele Group team while completing his graduate studies, giving both sides a working window into how the other operates before the role was formalized.

Cross-platform mandate

As Chief Operating Officer, Moten will lead integrated execution across Steele Group's commercial real estate advisory, Anchor Advisors' owner's project management practice, and BASE-X, the firm's 25,000-square-foot deep tech convening platform at 60 State Street in Boston. He will partner closely with the firm's existing operating leadership, including VP of Operations Ross Palley, to scale platform delivery against an active pipeline spanning defense, biomanufacturing, advanced manufacturing, energy, and maritime-industrial development.

Moten will be based at Steele Group's headquarters at BASE-X in Downtown Boston.
